Frequently asked is “what does number of motor turns mean?” Here is a quick summary.

In general a motor with higher number of turns (e.g. 27 turn) is slower than a motor with lower number of turns (e.g. 12 turn).

Motor turns and part of an electric rc motor.

Principle is same whether it is brushed or brushless motors.

Most kit come with the popular Mabuchi or Johnson 540 brushed motor. This is a 27 turn motor. As your skill level improves, try a 23 turn motor, then a 19 turn and so on. Idea to progress and increase speeds slowly.

For brushless motors, a good stock motor is in the 13.5 to 17.5 turn range. Professional drivers usually race using 3.5 – 4.0 turn motors in the modified touring car class.

Hope this helps answer your question. Feel free to post your comment. Thanks.
